Chapter 3: Journey with embracing Bijou

“My wise and brave elves! Remember our sadness this day! We must leave our home, the home we thought would last forever, and find a new place to live. Don’t forget the spirits of our poor comrades! Remember their noble sacrifice! Those who have betrayed us will suffer more than we did. They will suffer a pain a thousand times greater than ours”

Elderine’s journey through the wilderness seemed endless. The continent was devastated, even more than she thought.

“Oh Isya, the continent used to be full of leafy trees, but now…” said Elderine to her trusted advisor.

“Great Elderine, do not blame yourself. Your sorrow is our sorrow.”, she replied.

Elderine was not placated -

“My grieving is beyond elven comprehension. Why are the gods committing such foolish acts?”

“They too are merely weaklings imprisoned by their own greed. Please pull yourself together for your followers.”

“You’re right. I should never to anything to undermine their spirit.”

Elderine’s followers never lost hope and continued on their journey eventually reaching the deep south, the far end of the continent. There, they felt safe away from the hands of the monsters.

Whilst setting up camp, they encountered a new species that they have never seen before, the humans. They also came from far away, good and innocent spirits displaced by the destruction.
They were, however quite unlike anything the elves were accustomed to - they ate meat, cooked, cut down trees and built houses. Their way of life was difficult to understand for the elves; they had never seen anyone make so much use of yet live in such harmony with one’s surroundings.

“Why do you kill the living and eat it? You do know you can still live without eating meat.”, said an uncomfortable Elderon.

The oldest of the humans came forward and answered:

“We humans are not as strong as you elves, nor can we live as long as you do. We cannot live on smalls amount of fruit and water. We are much weaker and humble compared to your kind, but we survive by staying together. We alternate meat with other forms of food, which we cultivate here. We need a lot of energy but live for only a short time. We may be weak as one, but together we are strong.”

Elderine could not help but to understand, and possibly even admire their way of life. She understood they had no choice, were neither arrogant nor vicious. They just wanted to live a happy and peaceful life…

“We thought only our way of life was the true way, but your lives are true and righteous. I, Elderine, the mother of all elves wish to live with humans in peace and harmony in the blessed land full left to us by Legel”.
