Item Upgrades
In Fiesta Online you have the possibility to use a Blacksmith to upgrade your weapons and armour. A Smithy, as they are known in the game, can strengthen your equipment - or just make it look nice. If you want a glowing sword or shiny shield, go to a Smithy and they will fix you up.
The process of upgrading items proceeds as follows: Before you can begin, the item you want to enhance needs to be in your inventory and not in use - simply right click on the item if it’s already equipped. Then you must talk to a Smithy, one can be found in every village. Open the dialog window click on "Upgrade Item", and a new window will open.
|
The Smithy’s window contains the pictured panel - place the item you wish to upgrade in the middle position. Next, place an enhancement stone (Elrue, Lix or Xir, depending on the item enhancement level - see below) must be placed in one of the outer positions. Now, because you can only use one stone in each upgrade attempt, you’ve got to make sure that you only select 1 stone from your inventory: you can do this by holding shift whilst left-clicking on the appropriate section of your inventory. |
 |
The 3 spaces at at the bottom of the panel are reserved for premium items from the Itemshop.
Do note, however, attempting to upgrade items can have any of a number of outcomes, as described here:
- The item is upgraded by 1 level
- The item is upgraded by several levels, defined by the kind of enhancement stone used
- The item is downgraded by 1 level
- The item, together with the enhancement stone, is destroyed
Take care: It is sometimes possible that the enhancement process can destroy your equipment, should the Smithy make a mistake. Bear this in mind, think carefully before upgrading an item that you can’t live without.
There are 3 different kinds of enhancement stone - with 3 different categories of enhancement:
| Elrue | Can upgrade items by between 1 and 3 levels |
| Lix | Can upgrade items by between 4 and 6 levels |
| Xir | Can upgrade items by between 7 and 9 levels |
Now, for each type of stone are 3 different tiers. While the items you encounter at the beginning of the game can be upgraded by tier 1 stones, later and stronger weapons and armour require a higher tier.
In addition to that, stones can have special properties:
| Blessed | Increases the chance of a successful upgrade | |
| Lucky | Increases the chance that the upgrade will be the maximum possible from the stone |
Obviously, you need to collect these stones before you can make use of them! Fiesta Online gives you several ways to obtain enhancement stones:
- Via Merchants in villages
- As a Quest reward
- Having learnt "Stone production" as a skill
